Rap and entertainment mogul 50 Cent has signed on to executive produce and star in another Hollywood project. The artist, who serves as executive producer of the hit series Power, has signed on to an upcoming heist movie.
First reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the film is titled Free Agents. It follows a journeyman player’s last chance at finding success in the league. His breakout season becomes overshadowed however as he finds himself lured into a crime ring by fellow teammates. A scheme to steal from the team’s ownership ensues that threatens the safety of the journeyman, his family and his future.
50 Cent is set to play the leader of the crime ring in the film. A veteran linebacker, it’s 50’s character that pulls the journeyman into a life of crime.
“50 has been legendary in all ways I have been extremely impressed by his amazing energy on screen and his ability to light up every scene he is in,” Director Deon Taylor told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement. “I truly believe this extremely complex role will truly allow the world to understand just how unbelievably talented 50 is as an artist.”
Other details surrounding the film are scarce. A release date, full cast and production timeline are still unknown.
