by | Mar 25, 2021 | Collectibles

The world of cards and collectibles continues to see record-breaking sales. Over the weekend, the record for the highest sale for a non-sports trading card was broken. The 2005 Topps Chrome Superfractor Jay-Z autograph card sold for $105,780 in an auction by Goldin Auctions.

Listed at a starting price of $500, in under 50 bids the superfractor had crossed into six-figure territory. Graded a Mint 9 by Beckett, the card features the text “Signs of Stardom” accompanied by a reflective gold background, autograph and photo of Jay-Z.

The record-breaking auction comes amidst weeks of news in the collectibles community. Athletes like Patrick Mahomes and Taijuan Walker have released their own NFTs, unique digital-collectibles that have risen in popularity lately. Be sure to check out our coverage on those releases. You won’t believe how much they sold for!
