Cardi B has launched her latest entrepreneurial venture with hopes of inspiring the youth. The ‘Bodak Yellow’ artist announced her new brand “Real Women Are”, a doll company that highlights diversity “not only in skin tone and body shape, but diversity in the way they think and dream” according to the company’s website.
The first doll, set to release in July, will be a doll of Cardi B herself. The Grammy-winning artist announced via Instagram that she plans on releasing dolls of other artists in the future. Cardi plans on getting her social media followers in on the action as well, saying she eventually will ask women to send in photos of themselves and highlight their careers.
“I’ll pick who I like and we’re going to make a doll out of you,” Cardi said in the Instagram video. “It could be a woman soldier, you could be driving an ambulance, be a doctor. Baby you might be able to be a doll.”
The first doll’s presale has already ended, but Cardi ensures more dolls featuring her likeness are on the way soon. At a price of $35, the music star sees her product as an affordable alternative to competing dolls on the market.
