Eight-time All-NBA player Dwayne Wade now carries a new title: NBA owner. The three-time NBA champion purchased an ownership stake in the Utah Jazz on Friday.
Wade plans on taking an active role in the organization. He’s already close friends with Jazz guard Donavan Mitchell, who Wade has acted as a mentor for in the past. “If there’s a player similar to me, it’s Donavan Mitchell,” Wade said in an interview with ESPN.
The ownership stake is the latest of Wade’s business ventures since his retirement from basketball. The former Heat player already has his own restaurant, an apparel company, and a wine business.
The details of Wade’s ownership stake are not yet known. No matter how big or small his ownership stake is however, it’s safe to assume with his high profile he’ll be one of the more influential owners of the Utah Jazz moving forward.
