Jayson Tatum’s son inspired his Air Jordan 34 “Zoo” PE

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum used his frequent trips to the zoo for creative fashion inspiration. Tatum’s newest release with the Air Jordan brand features an interesting “zoo” theme.

Tatum describes experiencing the zoo with his 2-year old son, Deuce. “I vividly remember being in Australia and getting a private tour of the zoo, being able to go literally face to face (and feed) kangaroos, giraffes, spider monkeys, etc. Deuce was fearless and wanted to feed all of them”, says Tatum.

The shoe upper features Tiger, cheetah and zebra prints encircled by a white mesh and black trim. Tatum expresses how “Welcome to the Zoo” embroidered on the heel of the shoe in red is the icing on the cake for him. “The first time I saw it, it kind of gave me chills. It really stands out to me,” says Tatum.

The Celtics star pays homage to his hometown St. Louis by featuring “The ‘Lou” as a spellout graphic on the insole of the shoe. Tatum expresses how much this collaboration means to him. “I had so much fun coming up with ideas with Jordan Brand’s design team. It’s amazing to see them come to life and see all the buzz created around them when I step onto the court,” says Tatum.

Boston based clothing company, Concepts will exclusively release Tatum’s Air Jordan 34 “Zoo” PE on July 29th before arriving on Nike SNKRS July 31st. The retail price is set at $195 USD.
