The days of Sierra Canyon being the most elite high school basketball program in Los Angeles may be numbered thanks to none other than Kanye West.
The rapper and fashion mogul is planning on opening a K-12 school in the Los Angeles area called Donda Academy. The school will reportedly place a heavy emphasis on its basketball program.
Already the school has gotten commitments from several top basketball prospects. According to Billboard, five star recruit Jahki Howard, four-star recruit Zion Cruz, as well as top prospects Robert Dillingham and Jalen Hooks are signed on to play for the new program.
“It’s just one of those things you can’t pass up,” Hooks told the Indianapolis Star.
Jakhi Howard has also publicly confirmed his commitment to the Donda Academy posting to his Instagram, “I will be moving to California and I will be transferring to Donda Academy, I want to THANK YOU NORCROSS and the whole BLUE DEVIL FAMILY STILL BE MY FAMILY #donda”
The Donda Academy is named in tribute to Kanye West’s late mother. The academy will be located in Simi Valley, California.
