Just last week we reported Kobe Bryant’s estate was ending their partnership with Nike. Now according to a report by CNBC, a number of recent trademark applications by the estate may indicate the launch of a new brand.
Sources report over 13 trademark applications have been filed by the estate since May of 2020. Vannessa Bryant, the wife of Kobe Bryant, is said to be leading the efforts.
Trademark applications include ‘Play Gigi’s Way’ and ‘Mambacita’. Both trademarks honor the late Gianna Bryant, the daughter of Vanessa and Kobe Bryant. Gianna went by the nicknames Gigi and Mambacita. Other trademarks include ‘Baby Mambas’ and ‘Mamba League’.
The trademark filings reveal the estate intends to use them for a variety of apparel such as footwear, athletic gear and more. Filed under “intent to use”, intellectual property attorney Josh Gerben told CNBC this typically means a business is being structured behind the scenes.
There has been no public comment from the estate regarding the trademark applications. Stay tuned to Athletes Creative Trap for upcoming developments on this potential new brand.
