The country will be going through a major transformation on Wednesday, January 20th as Joe Biden takes a stand as the 46th president of the United States. The Presidential Inauguration will feature live and pre-taped performances from several iconic locations across the country from Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Jon Bon Jovi, Justin Timberlake to Demi Lovato.
Lady Gaga has been on the forefront with Biden on his campaign trail and “It’s on Us” campaign to combat campus sexual assault since the very beginning and will now perform the national anthem when he’s sworn into office. There will be primetime programming the night of the inauguration as well such as the 90-minute program titled “Celebrating America” be hosted by Tom Hanks, Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
“This past year brought a lot of frustration, grief, anger — and there were times when it was easy to feel powerless. This song was our way of doing what little we could to encourage everyone to stay hopeful… and keep working towards a better, more equal future,” Grammy Award winning recording artist Justin Timberlake shares on Instagram. “I’m very honored to announce we will be performing this song on January 20th for the Presidential Inauguration. We have a long way to go to fix, undo, and rebuild this country… but I hope now, despite the past four years, we are on our way. #Inauguration2021.”
The 59th inaugural swear-in ceremony has been largely altered to accommodate an at-home audience while also facing new concerns over security after the U.S. Capitol riots last week leaving five dead. President Donald Trump, who became the first president in U.S. history to be impeached twice, has mentioned he’s not planning to attend but Vice President Mike Pence is expected to be there.
