LeBron James Is The Next Athlete On The Iconic Wheaties Box

The LeBron James Wheaties edition is finally on its way!

General Mills has been tapping in sports champions for over 85 years on their iconic Wheaties cereal boxes, which premiered with Serena Williams gracing the cover this past year. This year, NBA superstar LeBron James will be appearing with a few special guests: his I Promise School scholars.

Wheaties revealed the new cover on Twitter this morning with the inspiring slogan: “Champion is not who you are. It’s what you do.”

James has built a dynamic legacy on the court, including a record of 13 All-NBA first-time selections, reaching 10 NBA Finals and is the all-time playoff scoring leader. While LeBron James is currently one win away from his 4th NBA Championship, he’s bringing home a surprising new victory he can share with the scholars paving their own paths in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.

He first launched the foundation in 2004 with the main focus of creating something that can make an impact on the education of the young inhabitants in his neighborhood. Eligible I Promise School graduates have the opportunity to continue their higher education in colleges including The University of Akron or Kent State University, where over $41 million has been allocated for their tuition.

Along with the I Promise School, James has built the I Promise Village to help with rent-free transitional housing for families needing a safe comfortable place to stay.

“We all know LeBron James for his record-breaking basketball career, but his achievements off the court truly set him apart,” said Taylor Gessell, brand experience manager for Wheaties.

“From starting the LeBron James Family Foundation, to boldly speaking out on racial injustice, to launching the I PROMISE School – LeBron is a champion of change who is using his sports platform to better the world. We couldn’t be prouder to feature such a positive force of inspiration for the next generation of champions on Wheaties’ historic box.”

The LeBron James Wheaties edition will be available in stores throughout the United State within the next few weeks.
