Naomi Osaka Docuseries to Debut on Netflix Ahead of Tokyo Olympics

by | Jul 7, 2021 | Entertainment

In just a few years, Naomi Osaka has gone from an unknown athlete to the super star of the tennis world. At only 23 Osaka is the winner of four Grand Slams, ranked number one in her sport and is the highest paid female athlete in the world. Now, an upcoming Netflix docuseries is set to give fans a behind-the-scenes perspective into Naomi’s life.

Coming to Netflix on July 16th, the three-part series is titled “Naomi Osaka” and follows Naomi in the years after her 2018 US Open victory. The series will give an inside look into Naomi’s early life, values and her grapples with managing her newfound fame.

“I think the amount of attention that I get is kind of ridiculous,” said Naomi in the trailer for the series. “No one prepares you for that.”

The series premieres just a week prior to the Tokyo Olympics. Osaka is set to compete for her birth country Japan during the games. It will be Osaka’s first time in a tennis match since she dropped out of the French Open over mental health concerns.
