A new series following the history of the Los Angeles Lakers franchise over the past four decades has been ordered by Hulu. The nine-part docuseries will feature in-depth interviews with figures throughout the organization including Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal and members of the Buss family.
The project is an effort between Lakers’ CEO Jeanie Buss and Emmy award winner Antoine Fuqua. Fuqua’s film portfolio is impressive. He’s directed blockbuster films like Olympus Has Fallen, The Magnificent Seven, Training Day and more.
Buss and Fuqua will serve as executive producers for the project, which will tell the history of the Lakers from 1979 onward. 1979 was the year Jerry Buss purchased the historic franchise.
The series has yet to be given a name. It will be released on Hulu sometime in 2022. For all things Lakers, stay tuned to Athletes Creative Trap
