Nike Releases Official Day of the Dead 2020 Collection

by | Oct 14, 2020 | Fashion

Nike is bringing back its Día De Los Muertos collection with four new sneakers on deck remixing the classic Nike Air Max 90, Nike DBreak Type, Nike Blazer Mid and Air Jordan 1’s. Each sneaker is making its comeback with a modern twist that celebrates La Familia.

The observance of Día de Muertos will begin on Saturday, Oct. 31 and end on Monday, Nov. 2.

Three iconic Nike Sportswear sneakers made their debut as the official collection of the Nike’s Day of the Dead 2019 celebration: Nike Air Force 1 La Calaca, Nike Air Max 95 La Catrina and Nike Cortez El Altar.

This time around, the popular shoe brand takes inspiration from the traditional ofrendas, or altars, including its vibrant colors, intrinsic patterns and detailed materials including specifics from the Marigold – the traditional Mexican flower. Due to the distinct features of each sneaker, sneakerheasds everywhere will appreciate each thought-out detail included on the footwear.

This year, Día De Los Muertos Collection takes us back to the notion of the family, with the statement “Para Mi Familia” on the DBreak Type heel, the toe of the Air Jordan 1, and the t-shirt/ hoodie graphics. It celebrates the oneness found within the family while celebrating all those who have past away, leaving behind their legacy.

All products can be found in both adult and kid’s sizing. You can get your own pair of sneakers or t-shirt/hoodie to match to celebrate the Mexican holiday this week during its launch!

The full Day of the Dead collection is now available in Mexico and will launch globally this week on Thursday, Oct. 15th at 10am EST on SNKRS and Nike.com!
