Pop Smoke Appears In Eddie Huang’s Film “Boogie”

by | Jan 25, 2021 | Entertainment

The executive producer of Fresh Off The Boat, acclaimed writer, actor, chef, and restaurateur, Eddie Huang releases the official trailer of his upcoming 2021 film, Boogie starring Pop Smoke, Taylor Takahashi, Taylour Paige, Pamelyn Chee, Mike Moh, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Alexa Mareka, and Perry Yung.

Alfred “Boogie” Chin is a Chinese-American basketball player in Queens, New York dreaming of one day playing for the NBA while going against what’s expected of him within his family dynamic. With the pressures of focusing on earning a scholarship to an elite college, being with a new girlfriend, dealing with the struggles of high school, and the burden of expectation, Boogie eventually meets Pop Smoke who plays a basketball prodigy and the two of them begin a feud to prove who is the best player in the neighborhood.

As someone who consistently tries to go beyond representation, this will be Huang’s directional debut as the executive writer leading the entire film. These are stories intertwined into one that will further implement more understanding in our communities while uniting the differences seen both on and off the court. After all the changes we’ve experienced in the past few years, this is a refreshing new take we’re excited to see once it’s available.

Boogie is expected to premiere on March 5th. Watch the first official trailer for Boogie here:
