by | Jun 21, 2021 | Entertainment

Sick of scrolling through Netflix looking for a sports flick? Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered. Here are three of the best sports films to stream this month on Netflix.

High Flying Bird (2019)

From Moonlight writer Tarell Alvin McCraney, this film was inspired by the 2011 NBA lockout. The film follows a sports agent and rookie player who pitch an unusual idea to change the league and ultimately end the lockout.

Get a behind the scenes look into the business of professional sports all while enjoying a well-written film that touches on themes of workplace rights and social justice.

Million Dollar Baby (2004)

Directed and starring Clint Eastwood, this film follows an underdog boxer played by none other than Hillary Swank. With Eastwood acting as her trainer, Swank’s character is pushed to her limits as she attempts to become a professional boxer.

The film hosts a plethora of excellent on-screen talent including Morgan Freeman and Anthony Mackie. If you are looking for a moving sports drama, this is one of the best to ever be created. Don’t just take our word for it, the film took home Best Picture at the Academy Awards.

Nacho Libre (2006)

This comedy starring Jack Black is a cult classic. Black plays a Catholic priest struggling to support the children at his orphanage. To ensure the children are fed, he takes on a double-life as a luchador wrestler.

Directed by Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess, Nacho Libre doesn’t take itself seriously. So kick back, relax and enjoy the chaos of this iconic comedy film.
