Ultra Music Festival Cancels 2021 Event For The Second Year In A Row

by | Jan 26, 2021 | Entertainment

The entertainment industry is still somehow trying to get their presence back into the lives of their die-hard music fans all over the world but it seems like complications are arising, leading to the cancellations of well-known and highly expected festivals such as the Ultra Music Festival.

For the second year in a row, the popular EDM Ultra Music Festival is canceling its show and aiming for an official 2022 set date due to the coronavirus pandemic. The festival organizers originally refused to offer full refunds to ticket buyers for the 2020 festival, instead offering to honor the tickets for the 2021 or 2022 events without full knowledge of when they would be returning to the Miami concert grounds. A lawsuit filed in Miami federal court sought to obtain full refunds with additional interest for thousands of their ticketholders. The lawsuit claims the festival keeping the money rather than offering refunds is unjust and inequitable.

Sandy York, Ultra Music Festival’s attorney, released in a statement, “We anticipate that the City will again invoke the Force Majeure clause. We respectfully request the rescheduled dates to be March 25, 26, and 27, 2022,” and for Ultra’s payment obligations to Miami “be deemed modified to correspond with the rescheduled dates.”
